Google Workspace Admin Choose an Account Loop
When admin.google.com keeps returning to Choose an account after you pick a login, sign out of mixed Google sessions and open Admin Console with your @domain super-admin only.
Quick answer
Match Choose an account on admin.google.com when selecting a login refreshes or returns to the same chooser with no Admin Console. Sign out of every Google account, or open a fresh browser profile or Incognito window, then go to admin.google.com and sign in only with the @yourdomain.com super-admin — not a personal @gmail.com. If the domain account never appears, recover the original Workspace welcome or super-admin address before chasing payment or domain-release screens.

What we're seeing
- The exact screen is Google’s Choose an account chooser at admin.google.com, where selecting an account refreshes or returns to the same chooser instead of opening Admin Console.
- Independent September 2025 through June 2026 first-hand r/googleworkspace reports show the loop when a personal @gmail.com session is mixed with a Workspace @domain login, or when only a consumer Gmail is offered as admin.
- First-hand clears include signing in with the domain super-admin address after a clean Google session, and using a fresh profile or Incognito so consumer Gmail cookies do not dominate the chooser.
- Payment-review, checkout, and domain-release loops on other tenants are different fingerprints and are not this Choose an account leftover.
- Google Admin Console is for Google Workspace domain administrators; a personal Gmail account is not an Admin Console identity even when it appears in the chooser.

Fix 1
Confirm the Choose an account refresh loop
Match the admin.google.com chooser behavior before changing domain DNS or billing.
- Open https://admin.google.com and look for Choose an account.
- Select an account once. This guide matches when the page refreshes or returns to the same chooser without loading Admin Console.
- If the screen is a payment review, checkout block, or domain-release notice instead, stop here — those use different leftovers.
Applies to Windows, Mac, Desktop, Web
Fix 2
Sign in with a clean session as the domain super-admin
Multiple first-hand Workspace admins cleared the chooser loop after signing out of mixed Google sessions and opening Admin Console only with the @domain super-admin, not a personal @gmail.com. One February 2026 reporter confirmed that signing in with a domain address worked after the same chooser loop.
- Sign out of every Google account in the browser, or open a fresh Chrome profile or an Incognito window with no Google cookies.
- Go to https://admin.google.com and choose or enter only the Workspace address ending in @yourdomain.com that is a super-admin.
- Do not pick a personal @gmail.com even if the chooser lists it as admin or forces that tile first.
- If Admin Console loads, stay on that domain session for admin work and avoid adding consumer Gmail into the same profile until you finish.
Applies to Windows, Mac, Desktop, Web
Fix 3
Find the original Workspace super-admin address
First-hand reports get stuck when the only account offered is a consumer Gmail that never had Admin Console rights. Recover the address from the original Workspace welcome mail or billing contact before using recovery forms.
- Search mail for the original Google Workspace welcome, trial, or super-admin invitation and note the @domain address named there.
- Retry admin.google.com in a clean session with that exact address.
- If you cannot find any domain super-admin, use Google’s Workspace account recovery paths for admins — do not keep picking @gmail.com on the chooser.
Applies to Windows, Mac, Desktop, Web
Fix 4
Keep Admin Console in a separate browser profile
Session-mix reports show the chooser refreshing when a logged-in consumer Gmail dominates cookies. A dedicated profile for the domain admin reduces that mix without changing Workspace settings.
- Create a browser profile used only for the Workspace @domain admin account.
- In that profile, open only admin.google.com and other Workspace admin URLs.
- Use a different profile for personal Gmail so the Choose an account list does not prefer the wrong identity.
Applies to Windows, Mac, Desktop, Web
Device notes
- Windows
- Use Chrome or Edge with a separate profile for the domain admin if Windows already keeps a consumer Google account signed in to the browser.
- Mac
- Same clean-session leftover on macOS browsers; prefer a fresh profile over deleting the Workspace account.
- Desktop
- This is a browser Admin Console loop, not a Google Drive desktop sync error.
- Web
- admin.google.com is the match. workspace.google.com marketing pages and mail.google.com alone are not this fingerprint.
Official information
Checked on 22 September 2026, first-hand Google Workspace admin threads document Choose an account on admin.google.com refreshing until the @domain super-admin is used in a clean session. Google’s Admin Console help treats Admin Console as a Workspace administrator surface, not a personal Gmail inbox setting. Google does not publish a single KB title that only names this chooser refresh loop.
